Font pairings as explainable relationships
Anchor, affinity, contrast and roles: the API generates pairings with rationale, optical corrections and a type scale, and shows them in a page composition.
How would you like to start?
shared tone and proportions
The method
Anchor. Start with the typeface that occupies the most space: body text for an editorial, perhaps the heading for a brand. This choice guides the others.
Affinity and contrast. Combine at least one shared quality (tone, proportions, x-height) with contrast on another dimension (structure, stroke, width), and give each face a clear role.
Composition, not samples. Judge a pairing on the page: size, line height, measure and supporting elements — and check accessibility in the actual result.
